This course is designed to introduce you to the use of Stata software and provide you with the necessary skills to handle the tool efficiently and effectively. You will learn Stata syntax and the operators used in the software, become familiar with the different types of files that can be imported into Stata, and learn how to perform a basic database check.
You will also learn how to create and replace variables, name and label variables, and generate initial statistical tables. You will understand how to use macros and loops, conditional commands, and continuous or discrete studies in Stata. You will become familiar with the graphs available in Stata, including bar charts, histograms, time-series plots, and regression plots, and you will learn how to join, merge, and transform databases.
The course will be conducted in five online modules and will be held at convenient times so that you can attend after your workday. The course starts on Monday, May 22 and ends on Thursday, June 8, with three classes per week, each one from 19:30 to 21:00 hrs.
The course will be taught by Sergio Garbay, Lead Researcher at Fundación Aru for four years leading projects and working papers on poverty, inequalities, pandemic effects, among others. In 2021 and 2022 he gave Stata trainings to the Bolivian Ministry of Economy and Public Finance and trainings open to the public.
